Recently, Siargao was one of the many places that were devastated by Typhoon Odette. The island was 95% destroyed by super typhoon #OdettePH, which caused an estimated 20 billion in damage. Local officials said that it would take 6โ8 months to bring back the electricity. Days after the typhoon coursed through the country, a lot of places are still in need of help and restoration, while thousands of Filipinos still lack basic human needs. In light of the situation, the FEU Roosevelt TED Student Council & FEUR Hospitality Management Society launched a fundraising and donation drive entitled “Siargao Needs Light.”
Such small incidents strengthen our faith in humanity and demonstrate that humanity can still exist in a world devoid of morals and values. It demonstrates that, no matter how desperately in need of money they may be, there are still people who prioritize ethics over wealth.
To everyone who helped the organization to make this fundraising and donation drive a success, thank you for bringing light back to their dark homes.
