S.Y. 2022-2023
An exciting activity was held by the Arts Club, in which the members were encouraged to make a mascot of a character they plan to exhibit. Not only did they foster their talent and creativity through different mediums, but they also had a small seminar wherein previous graduates or former presidents of the Arts Club were invited to impart their knowledge to the current members. They were now college students, and even the first president who established the club was taking an Art related course at the University of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, a jolting experience was developed in the IT Club as officers held a seminar concerning their expectations. They later tried to build robots to teach the mechanics and functions of a computer program system. With excitement written on their faces, the attendees were grouped to allow collaboration in solving and team-building challenges.
While most clubs had free or open-ended activities, the Dance Club used their time to elaborate and plan their choreography for an upcoming event at the Marikina Sports Center the following day. They practiced for a modern dance competition, wherein the Rodriguez campus dancers ended up in last place.
The FEURR Guidance Club played “Rock, Paper, Scissors (Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do).” They also answered a printed document where they shared their reflections on several questions such as “What’s your greatest achievement?” and “What are your strengths and weaknesses?). “ After that, they completed statements such as “I believe I will,” “As a son/daughter, I will,” and “As a student, I will.” They also did a “Circle of Control (I cannot control, I can control)” exercise.
The Media Arts Club conducted a Basic Photography Session hosted by Gian Paolo Estacio, Jeancess Gallo, and James Lee Roy Ramirez. After the session, they hosted a photography contest on their social media pages. The three chosen contest winners will be given their respective prices.
The Senior Scouting Club joined and assisted their Scoutmaster, Mr. Elvin Acevedo, in his alternative class, “Survival/Life-Saving Tips.” Afterward, Mr. Jorene Apuya taught them how to raise the flag and retreat.
The Fashion Designers Club practiced machine operation in sewing under the guidance of Ms. Maria Cristina Arevalo. They used their session to enhance their skills and become more proficient in using the sewing machine, which will come in handy for their future activities.
The officers of the SLK Club imparted knowledge on various displayed books. These included documents written by the doctors of the Church, the ancient and current catechism, apologetics, exorcism, and Mass Books (Missale Romanum). According to Mr. Alfie Angeles, the club’s adviser, they regularly conduct Lectio Divina, Community Devotions, and several lectures to achieve the club’s overall goal of promoting youth renewal through Catholic values. Mr. Angeles, however, believes that this meeting is extraordinary because it highlights the beauty and grandeur of the Catholic faith. The club moderator likewise mentioned that souvenirs were given to club members who attended the exhibit.
The Taekwondo club also kept the busy energy of the day alive by performing multiple exercises. These included basic kicks such as the 45-degree kick and other self-defense techniques. Mr. Emiliano Longcob Jr., the taekwondo coach, explained that these activities help instill a sense of discipline among the club members and maintain their overall body strength.
As FEU Roosevelt returns to face-to-face classes, it opens new avenues for making the most of school life. After a long wait, students could finally enjoy the Grand Club Day festivities with their club advisers and co-members. Students discovered themselves pursuing new interests, making new friends, and creating lifelong memories. This event will genuinely commemorate FEUR’s 90th Anniversary and give students something to look forward to at their next club meetings!
