Associate in Computer Technology (ACT)

The Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) program at FEU Roosevelt is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computer systems, programming, and information technology fundamentals. Rooted in the university’s values of resilience, competence, and integrity, the program prepares students for entry-level careers in the IT industry, technical support roles, and further studies in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and related computing programs.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

This program produces graduates with basic knowledge and skills in computer technology, programming, and computer systems with preparation for industry work and advancement to higher computing education.

Throughout the program, students will:

    • Gain foundational knowledge in computer systems, programming, and IT concepts.
    • Develop logical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Acquire basic programming and software development competencies.
    • Learn fundamental networking and system maintenance.
    • Apply computing tools and technologies in real-world scenarios.
    • Develop readiness for further studies in information technology and related fields.

 

Career Pathways

Graduates of the ACT program may pursue entry-level positions such as:

  • IT Support Technician
  • Technical Support Specialist
  • Junior Programmer / Developer Assistant
  • Web Development Assistant
  • Computer Laboratory Technician
  • Systems Support Assistant
  • Data Encoding / IT Operations Assistant

 

Curriculum

The program includes 15 units of general education courses that provide foundational knowledge in communication, mathematics, and the social sciences. It also includes 15 units of core computing courses that introduce students to computer systems, programming fundamentals, and database concepts. A total of 18 units of specialization courses focus on applied computing areas such as web development, hardware servicing, and networking fundamentals, and 3 units for Professional Issues. Students are also required to complete 2 units of institutional courses aligned with FEU Roosevelt’s mission, vision, and core values of resilience, competence, and integrity.

To ensure holistic development, the program includes 8 units of PATHFIT (Physical Education) for wellness and fitness development and 6 units of NSTP. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on laboratory work, problem-based learning, and applied computing exercises to strengthen technical competence and industry readiness.

With a balanced integration of theoretical foundations and practical training, the ACT program prepares graduates for entry-level IT support roles and seamless advancement to baccalaureate-level computing education.
