Undergraduate Programs
The BSEd is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major in the secondary level. The BSEd degree program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education.
The degree program described herein shall be called Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd). The BEEd is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to teach in the elementary level. BEEd degree program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for elementary education. BEEd degree program draws from various allied disciplines like social sciences, science, math, technology, languages, and humanities to ensure that the graduates have a multi-disciplinary preparation in content and pedagogy.
The BECEd is a four-year program. Specifically, this program provides students with fundamental understanding and application of the principles of early childhood care and education, as well as experience in the application of these principles. This program aims to educate individuals to be competent early childhood practitioners working with children from 0-8 years old in various early childhood settings (home, community, school, and workplace). It is aligned with the National Early Learning Framework (NELF), the National Competency Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS 2017) and the first key stage which is K to 3. The BECEd program is designed to prepare students for teaching and supporting young children’s development. A broad range of employment opportunities are available by fulfilling the degree requirements. Completion of the appropriate program will qualify graduates for employment in government or private institutions.
Graduate Programs
This program is designed to develop research-oriented and well-trained educational managers and leaders in public and private academic institutions. The program supports educational institutions in their development of teaching as well as administering work force to enhance their organizational effectiveness, leadership capability and educational knowledge formation, thus, realizing the objective of educational development for social transformation and community improvement.
The program is designed to develop pedagogical skills for teaching Mathematics and to substantiate holistically the relationship between theoretical underpinning of teaching Mathematics and the dimension of the teaching practice in the grassroot level. The ultimate goal of this program is to produce educators with significant image and contribution for the continuous development learning and teaching.
The Early Childhood Education Program is designed for graduate students who are interested in developing leadership roles in early childhood learning facilities. The purpose of this program is to prime graduates in developing, managing, and evaluating early childhood programs as well as implement developmental curriculum for children from birth through age __. Students in this program are expected to acquire competency in terms cultural, linguistic and pedagogical dimensions of early childhood education.
The program is designed to develop pedagogical skills for teaching English and to substantiate holistically the relationship between theoretical underpinning of teaching English as an academic language and the dimension of the teaching practice in the grassroot level. The ultimate goal of this program is to equip English teachers on the foundation of language education, approaches and techniques on teaching English, curriculum design, and materials preparation.
The purpose of this program is to develop responsible educated citizens who are knowledgeable and engaged in the diverse democratic dimensions of education as well as the dynamic global attributes of teaching and learning. The program aims to promote civic competence, intellectual processes and democratic disposition in the teaching profession as regards social studies education.
The program is designed to provide knowledge and skills from theoretical and conceptual underpinning in line with learning a language and translating cultural icons into indigenous knowledge of Filipino learners. This provides pedagogical skills for teaching Filipino and to substantiate holistically the relationship between theories of teaching Filipino and the dimensions of the teaching practice in the grassroot level.
The program is designed to prepare effective science educators through coursework and empirical-based experiences that are consistent with the objective to graduate as effective and confident science educators. The program emphasizes teaching a diversity of learners in the light of contextualizing scientific concepts and principles, thus bridging the gap between science theories and actual teaching practices. The faculty guide students to develop knowledge and skills in science education to experience science actively and develop reflective practices that implicate critical thinking and knowledge building.
The program is designed for students preparing to dedicate themselves to learning about the nature of learning disabilities and the ways in which individuals, families, schools, and local communities work to improve the quality of life and outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities. The students will be equipped with required knowledge, competencies, values, and skills to meet the unique and special academic presentation of children with special needs.
The program is designed for candidates interested in careers as public school counselors, college and university counselors and other positions in counseling. This enhances the knowledge and skills in psychological counseling and in providing effective guidance services to all types of learners within an educational environment. The program aims to produce graduates who are competent in preventing problems and promoting optimal human development, as well as providing relevant and functional guidance and counseling services to learners in a variety of counseling settings.
The program enables the students to apply technology to improve educational teaching and instruction. This provides education professionals with expertise needed to enhance teaching and learning. The program attracts education professionals interested in online teaching, improving traditional classroom learning, managing distance education programs.
The program provides non-education degree holders a thorough understanding of basic concepts and principles of Teaching and Learning. It enhances the basic knowledge in methodologies and strategies of teaching and learning that include: assessment, educational technology and developmental reading. The program prepares educators with appropriate and relevant approaches of handling children in the General Education program.
